Following a successful appearance in the AFCON, Amokachi went international as he joined Club Brugge in Belgium, participating in the Champions League, becoming the first player to score in the tournament during a 1–0 victory in the group phase against CSKA Moscow.
Amokachi’s display in Belgium and the National Team during the 1994 World Cup led to EPL team Everton signing him under manager Mike Walker for a transfer fee of
