Canadian University offers Nigerian students scholarship worth N76m



Nigerians now possess the opportunity to apply for a scholarship valued up to N76 million ($100,000) provided by the University of Ottawa in Canada.

Numerous young individuals in Nigeria have consistently been preoccupied with the necessity of acquiring an education and experiencing diverse cultures. There have been appeals for scholarship programs for international students at overseas institutions, especially those situated in North America.

The University of Ottawa has unveiled a new four-year entrance and merit scholarship for African students who have recently been accepted into English-language undergraduate engineering, science, or social science programs, totaling up to $100,000.

The University of Ottawa stated that “this renewable scholarship is available to citizens of African nations who are newly admitted to one of the qualifying undergraduate programs offered in English by the faculties of Engineering, Science, or Social Sciences.”

It further mentioned that “based on their average, qualified students could receive a merit scholarship over a period of four years.”

“Surpassing $40.5 million, our international scholarship and financial assistance program for undergraduates remains one of the most generous among any prominent Canadian university.”

It acknowledges not just pre-university academic accomplishments but also achievements during each term of full-time enrollment. African students engaged in English-language programs will benefit from a significantly reduced tuition, easing access to a plethora of programs across three faculties.

It suggested that “to assist students during the application process, the University of Ottawa will conduct multiple virtual information sessions to address inquiries and provide guidance to prospective students.”
