Biography: Here’s all you need to know about Omah Lay



Omah Stanley Didia, commonly referred to as Omah Lay, was born in 1997. The vocalist also hails from Port Harcourt. Without a doubt, this singer and music producer is an emerging talent to keep an eye on. At merely 23 years of age, Omah Lay has succeeded in captivating numerous fans with his reflective and indulgent sound.

Omah received his education throughout his life in Port Harcourt, attending Comprehensive High School in Rivers State. He subsequently moved on to the University of Port Harcourt. Omah Lay’s enthusiasm for music commenced after observing his grandfather perform as a percussionist for the iconic Highlife artist Celestine Ukwu until his passing in 1976. His father also engaged in drumming, further fueling Omah’s passion for music. Omah Lay embarked on his musical journey after composing tracks for various artists. As stated by the well-known talent, he received little acknowledgment for his songwriting efforts, prompting him to elevate his performance.

In June 2019, Omah Lay initially signed with a record label known as KeyQaad. This pivotal step led him to leave Port Harcourt for Lagos for the very first time. He is currently affiliated with the Dvpper Music label.

Omah Lay’s musical creations have been described as both introspective and indulgent, harmonized with the energy of alt-pop production, sometimes crafted by the artist himself. Commenting on his musical style, the artist shared, “I create afrobeats. This is our craft. In my approach to afrobeats, I prefer not to confine myself to what it should sound like. I strive to explore every possible avenue, every single style. I want to incorporate reggae, I want to delve into dancehall, but ultimately, I aspire to produce afrobeat. So I’m not aiming to be confined.”

Omah Lay’s repertoire includes tracks such as Hello Brother (2019), Do Not Disturb (2019), Alternate Cuts (2020), and Tonight (2020). He unveiled his debut EP, Get Layd, which features five solid tracks without any collaborations. The tracks are: Melissa, Missy Rothstein bio: Who is Bam Margera’s first spouse? Bad Influence, You Damn Lo, and Lo Ye Ye Ye.

He commenced work on Get Layd in August 2019, with Bad Influence being the first song he recorded for the EP. Omah merges both elements and presents us with a self-aware romantic, whose girl adores him despite his imperfections.
