Renowned music executive, Michael Collins Ajereh, widely recognized as Don Jazzy, has shared his significant struggle with managing GenZ artists beneath his record label.
During a segment of the Who’s In The House podcast, the leader of Mavin Records expressed that his primary obstacle in engaging with GenZ artists is their unwillingness to fervently advocate for their music on their social media profiles.
He elaborated that numerous GenZ artists are resistant to saturating their accounts with musical content since they prioritize the aesthetics of their social media presence.
Don Jazzy revealed that this dilemma occasionally leads to conflicts between him and his artists, particularly the more established ones.
“I dispute with my artists frequently due to their hesitance to share their musical content on their social media platforms. I am even in a disagreement with my niece, who is involved in the entertainment industry, regarding this same matter.
“I am unsure who informed GenZ that it is inappropriate to excessively showcase your work on social media. They prefer to maintain a pristine profile and hesitate to post or promote themselves. Particularly Ayra Starr, who confides in me about having imposter syndrome,” he bemoaned.
The music executive encouraged artists to consistently display their creations online whenever possible.
