A leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, has proclaimed his departure from the ruling party.
In making the announcement, Eze stated that his choice was motivated by what he termed the blatant incompetence of the present administration headed by the APC and President Bola Tinubu.
In a communiqué released on Tuesday, Eze also indicated that he has allied with the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
Reflecting on his contributions to promoting the APC during its early days, Eze expressed remorse for being among those who appealed to the conscience of Nigerians to embrace the party.
He remarked that the APC has lost its path and has been diminished to a gathering of followers and puppets of President Tinubu.
“We assured Nigerians that we would enhance the value of our local currency against the Dollar, yet the Naira continues to plummet and performs poorly on the global money market.
“We pledged to eliminate insecurity in Nigeria, but rather the party and the ruling government have transformed the nation into a graveyard where no Nigerian feels secure; the party assured ample food for all Nigerians, whereas the government is establishing Internally Displaced People (IDP) Camps to accommodate farmers whose homes and villages in the North East and North Central regions, the food baskets of this nation, have been set ablaze by bandits; we promised quality education for our children.
“Currently, education is in dire straits, crushed into a pitiful position that has left those who remember the standards that once existed shaking their heads in sorrow and disbelief.
“We vowed to elevate our democracy to one of the most distinguished globally, yet we have transformed our democracy into not just a colossal joke but a target of ridicule as the nation under Tinubu is coerced into a one-party system; We committed to combating corruption but ended up normalizing corruption and embezzlement of public funds under the existing administration.”
“Our esteemed President Tinubu assured Nigerians of continuous power supply and stated that if he failed, no one should vote for him or the party, but he has managed to deliver darkness to Nigerians while plotting for reelection,” he stated.
Eze further asserted that today, no Nigerian can assert they are safe as the nation has morphed into a landscape of bloodshed.
“If we tally daily, the number of Nigerians who lose their lives, they would total in the hundreds. Suicide bombings have resurfaced among us. Our soldiers are no longer secure as Boko Haram and their factions now raid our barracks.
“Our people in both the North East and North Central have abandoned their agricultural settlements to reside in the ID Camp, even though it still fails to guarantee their safety.
“The nation is under siege and rather than our president remaining behind, demonstrating empathy, and devising effective methods to halt the escalating bloodshed, he opted to fly to the UK with a few of our misguided Governors and Senators, to receive accolades and admiration.
“Today the current APC resembles a bandit group obliterating any form of opposition, assaulting and devastating any establishment of dissenting voices, as exemplified by the disruption of an ADC meeting by APC thugs in Bakassa LGA of CRS,” he added.
