Arteta Faces Criticism as Arsenal Falls 2-0 to Man City in Carabao Cup Showdown

Former Liverpool midfielder, Jamie Redknapp, has criticized Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta regarding his choice to initiate Kepa Arrizabalaga instead of David Raya in goal, a decision that proved detrimental during the Gunners’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final on Sunday.

Kepa’s significant blunder was crucial as Pep Guardiola’s team sailed to victory at Wembley Stadium, with Nico O’Reilly scoring both goals to secure the trophy for City.

While speaking on Sky Sports, Redknapp lambasted Arteta’s line-up, describing it as a major miscalculation.

“Kepa is not on par with Raya—that is precisely why he is your second choice,” Redknapp stated.

“You’ve gone such a lengthy period without a trophy at Arsenal, and in a final, this is your decision.”

“It’s a significant mistake by Arteta, and it has ultimately backfired tremendously.”
