Maiduguri Bombing: Atiku criticizes Tinubu for campaigning over victims’ tragedies.

Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, has voiced significant worry regarding the recent acts of terrorism in Borno State, denouncing the federal government for what he termed as a deficiency of effective measures against the re-emergence of Boko Haram suicide bombings.

In a declaration via his X account, Atiku mentioned, “I am extremely disheartened by the recent terrorist acts in Borno State and the reappearance of suicide bombings that were previously overcome.

“The escalating incidents of killings of soldiers and civilians by terrorists are bringing back painful memories of 2014 when Boko Haram was predominately active within the nation.”

While lauding the sacrifices made by Nigerian military personnel, Atiku emphasized that “the Tinubu administration should reassess its approaches.

“The revival of terrorism has the potential to undermine public trust in the government’s capability to safeguard its own populace.”

He criticized the federal administration for placing political motives above security, asserting, “The Tinubu government seems more fixated on suppressing opposition politicians than on addressing the deteriorating security issues.

“And it is clear that despite the orders to act, the terrorists continue their assaults.”

Atiku also pointed out the public’s dissatisfaction with governmental declarations: “Nigerians are not swayed by the government’s statements denouncing terrorist actions.

“They are more focused on outcomes. Results carry more weight than the government’s stern rhetoric.”

In a direct appeal to the President, he stated, “A mother in Maiduguri does not seek press releases. She is questioning why her child was mutilated in an area the government claimed was ‘liberated.’ Our troops are perishing with obsolete equipment while the President is on a state visit to Britain, as body parts are being collected in Borno.”

Atiku concluded with a caution about the ethical duties of the government, writing, “A government that regards funerals as commonplace and criticism as treason has forfeited the moral right to lead.

“You cannot campaign for 2027 atop the graves of the individuals you failed to protect in 2026.
