Bible verses about guilt and shame

Bible passages regarding guilt and disgrace

There are moments when we, as believers, succumb to various temptations.

We find ourselves engaging in actions we are not proud of.

This can lead us to a state of guilt and disgrace.

There are Bible passages that can assist us in confronting all of it.

  1. 1 John 1.9 —
“If we acknowledge our transgressions, he is faithful and righteous to absolve us of our wrongdoings and to purify us from all injustice.” Admit whatever is causing you to feel disgrace, guilt, and remorse.
  2. Micah 7:19 —
“…he will show mercy upon us; he will subdue our wrongs, and you will cast all their transgressions into the depths of the ocean.” Release them because you have been absolved.
  3. Ephesians 5:25–26 —
“…Christ cherished the church and sacrificed himself for her to sanctify her, cleansing her by the washing with water through the word.”
  4. Romans 8:1 —
“There is therefore no criticism for those who are in Christ Jesus.”
  5. John 14:1 —
“Do not let your hearts be disturbed. Trust in God; trust also in me.”
  6. 1 Corinthians 15:34 —
“Awaken to righteousness and do not sin; for some are unaware of God: I speak this to your shame.”
  7. Isaiah 50:7 —
“Because the Almighty Lord supports me, I will not be disgraced. Therefore, I have set my face like flint, and I am confident I will not be put to shame.”
