Obadiah Mailafia’s Biography
Obadiah Mailafia was born on December 24, 1956, in a locality named Randa within the Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna state. His father, Baba Mailafia Gambo Galadima, was a preacher with the Evangelical Reformed Church of Central Nigeria (ERCC); consequently, he was brought up in a missionary household.
Education
Mailafia began his primary education at the Musha Sudan United Mission School, subsequently transferring to Mada Hills Secondary School in Akwanga, situated in Nasarawa State.
The former CBN deputy president later gained admission to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, graduating in 1978 with a B.Sc. degree in Social Sciences. He would eventually accomplish a second degree from the same institution.
In recognition of his academic excellence, Obadiah Mailafia was awarded a French Government Scholarship to France, where he earned a Certificate in French Language and Civilization from the University of Clermont-Ferrand.
Career
Obadiah commenced his professional journey as an educator at Akoko Anglican Grammar School, Arigidi-Ikare in Ondo State, serving as part of his primary task during his mandated National Youth Service Corps year.
Following his NYSC tenure, Mailafia returned to Ahmadu Bello University as a Graduate Assistant in the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences from 1980 to 1982.
