Craig was born in Houston, Texas, on December 2, 1967, and he spent his early years attending Ardmore High School in the southern area. After finishing high school, he enrolled at Oklahoma City University on a tennis scholarship. He was also a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha fraternity and subsequently earned his bachelor’s degree in Marketing. It was there that he met his future wife, and they got married in 1991.
Later that year, he began his pastoral work as an associate pastor at the United Methodist Church. He also pursued education at Phillips Theological Seminary, affiliated with the Christian Church, where he finally earned his Master of Divinity degree.
