Born in 1953 in Keesi, Ogun State, Nigeria, Kanran’s passion for the arts began in his youth, when local theatrical performances were presented during Easter and Christmas celebrations.
His enthusiasm prompted him to attend the Centre for Cultural Studies at the University of Lagos (currently the Creative Arts Department), before advancing to Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), where he obtained a diploma in directing, acting, and film production.

Life Challenges
In 2017, Kanran endured a catastrophic fire incident that obliterated his home, four vehicles, and valuable filming equipment. The loss was substantial, and it took years for him to recover both emotionally and financially. Some vehicles were sold, one was irreparably damaged, and another was consumed by the flames.
His Death
On the morning of Friday, August 15, 2025, Chief Kanran passed away. Filmmaker Seun Oloketuyi shared the news via Instagram. At the time of the announcement, the cause of death had not been disclosed. Fans, colleagues, and the Nigerian entertainment community conveyed profound sorrow and shared tributes celebrating his life and legacy.
