Theresa Zitting (Finland), H. E. Regine Hess (Germany), H. E. Mary O’Neill (Ireland), and H. E. Marco Lombardi (GBV).
The yearly worldwide initiative, themed “Take Action to Prevent Femicide Against Women,” aims to enhance awareness of GBV and advocate for global action and advocacy efforts to eradicate violence against women and girls from 25 November to 10 December 2022.
In Tanzania, Team Europe champions efforts to avert and address femicide and GBV by backing various initiatives at the national, regional, and local spheres, which include awareness-raising measures on both GBV prevention and response. This advocacy is conducted in partnership with local and international stakeholders. On November 25 at Leaders Club premises, WiLDAF, the coordinator of the national campaign, will be accompanied by the Minister for Community Development, Gender, Women, and Special Groups to officially launch Tanzania’s 16 Days of Activism.
The Embassies of Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Ireland, the Netherlands, Spain, Sweden, and the EU Delegation will coordinate several public events throughout the campaign in collaboration with governmental partners, NGOs, policymakers, community organizations, and activists. Notable highlights include the Shule Salama tour to various schools, the anti-GBV award presentation, workshops and expert discussions, an anti-GBV caravan traveling to 12 regions in Tanzania focusing on engaging men and boys, and the assembly of a diverse array of voices, activists, partners, and decision-makers to tackle GBV.
The schedule of events and their organizers is detailed in Annex 1.
