8 Bible verses on letting go of the past

The past holds no dominion over us. God desires for us to release it because we have been transformed by His love and redeeming grace.

Thus, instead of reacting negatively due to our unjust history, we should only reflect God’s works within us.

“It is no longer I who inhabit this body, but Christ dwells in me. Therefore, I live in this earthly form by placing my faith in the Son of God, who cherished me and sacrificed Himself for me.” (Galatians 2:20)

Let us all reflect on these 10 Biblical passages that inspire us to finally release the past.

  1. Philippians 3:12; “but one thing I pursue, forgetting those matters which lie behind and striving for those matters which are ahead. I reach toward the aim for the prize of the heavenly call of God in Christ Jesus.”
  2. Luke 9:62; “But Jesus replied to him, “No one, having placed his hand to the plow, and looking back, is suitable for the kingdom of God.”
  3. 1 John 1:9; “If we acknowledge our wrongdoings, He is faithful and just and will absolve us of our wrongs and cleanse us from ALL unrighteousness.”
  4. Matthew 6:15; “But if you do not pardon others their wrongs, your Father will not pardon your wrongs.”
  5. Ephesians 4:31-32; “Let all resentment and fury and anger and shouting and slander be cast away from you, along with all malice. Be gracious to one another, compassionate, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
  6. Proverbs 4:25; “Let your eyes gaze straight ahead; fix your focus directly before you.”
  7. 2 Corinthians 12:8-9: “Three times I implored the Lord to remove it from me. But He replied, “My grace is adequate for you, for My power is perfected in weakness.” Hence, I will glory all the more in my weaknesses so that Christ’s power may rest upon me.”
  8. Isaiah 12:2; “Behold, God is my deliverance; I will trust and will not fear; for the Lord God is my strength and my song, and He has become my salvation.”
