The Deputy Managing Director of Zenith Bank, Dame (Dr) Adaora Umeoji, has constructed and contributed a top-notch building for the benefit of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Dobi, Abuja.
The inauguration/dedication of the new parish structure to the Catholic Archdiocese of Abuja occurred recently.
During the inauguration, Dame Umeoji stated, “I’m present to hand over the keys to this new structure for the ongoing dissemination of the word of God.
“We hope that this will inspire further contributions from others for the diocese and for the servants of God.”
NAIJATAB NEWS discovered that Umeoji was inspired to construct and contribute the new church building after the temporary structure utilized for worship at the church was destroyed by a windstorm on May 17, 2018.
It was reported that she was approached for support regarding a new construction project for the parish.
She reviewed the building plan and noted that the proposed design was not appropriate for God, suggesting that a more refined architectural drawing be developed.
Dame Umeoji’s intention to assist the parish in erecting a new and more suitable church structure was a tribute to God for the recovery of her beloved mother, Chief (Lady) Ngozi Umeoji, it was also revealed.
Nevertheless, her mother’s eventual transition did not deter her from fulfilling her commitment to help create a new place for the congregation to worship.
She expressed that she believed God wanted her mother to continue living through the church.
“I dedicate this church to the cherished memory of my late mother, who motivated me greatly to see this through,” Dame Umeoji remarked.
Catholic Archbishop of Abuja, His Grace Ignatius Kaigama, graciously accepted the donation on behalf of the church.
