Yusha’u Ahmed Early life & Professional Career
Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed was born in Kaduna on December 28, 1971. He completed his secondary education at MFCT Secondary School in Rubochi, Abuja. Dogara was accepted into the NDA as part of the Direct Regular Course 9 on January 4, 1997. On July 5, 1997, he was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Nigerian Army Education Corps.
After his commission, he was assigned as an Instructor at the Nigerian Military School in Zaria. His other roles included Staff Officer 3 Education in NMS, Record Officer for the African Mission in Sudan (AMIS), Instructor at the Nigerian Army School of Education (NASE), Chief Education Officer for 3 Brigade, Military Assistance to DG NYSC, General Staff Officer G1 (Edn) at HQ NAEC, and Assistant Director Education AHQ DATOPs.
General Ahmed has occupied several command and staff roles appropriate to his rank and experience. These include Comdt of CDSS Ojo, CDSS Enugu, and CSS Ipaja Lagos, as well as the Deputy Chief of Staff G3/G7 at NAEC and Deputy Director at the Institute of Military History. He was appointed GOC 1 Div in 2008, Comdt NAEC in 2012, GOC 81 Div in 2014, and GOC 81 Div in 2019. His latest position was Deputy Commandant NMS.

The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), has sanctioned the appointment of Brig. Gen. Y. D. Ahmed as the Director-General of the National Youth Service Corps.
The Presidency designated Christy Uba as the senior-most director following the dismissal of Brig. Gen. Mohammed Fadah due to alleged ineptitude and underperformance.
The New York State Service Commission confirmed the elevation of its Director of Information and Communications Technology,
Christy Uba now serves as the acting Director-General of the organization.
She made history by being the first female appointed to the NYSC since its establishment around 50 years ago.
Eddy Megwa, the NYSC Director of Press and Public Relations, indicated that the appointment occurred after Buhari removed Brigadier General Muhammad Kaku Fadah as DG.

The Citizens Centre for Youth Development (CCYD) has expressed its support for the appointment of Brigadier-General Yusha’u Dogara Ahmed as the new Director-General (DG) of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC).
The center commended President Muhammadu Buhari for his selection of Ahmed in a statement endorsed by its Executive Director, Vincent O. Unazi.
Unazi believes Ahmed is well-suited for revitalizing the scheme, which has fallen into disrepute due to corruption, favoritism, and prejudice.
He described the brigadier general as capable, transparent, and dedicated, emphasizing that he is ideally qualified for the role.
Moreover, Unazi noted that Ahmed possesses the necessary academic and military qualifications and expertise to restore the scheme to its past prominence.
According to Unazi, the new NYSC leader is acutely aware of the high expectations of Nigerians and will strive to meet them.
The center mentioned that Ahmed is familiar with the workings of the scheme, having previously served as a military assistant to one of the notable reformers in the NYSC’s history.

He is an alumnus of the Nigerian National Defence College. His academic credentials include a Bachelor of Arts in Education, a degree in History, a Master of Education in Educational Psychology, and a Master of Arts in Peace and Strategic Studies.
