Charles commenced his training in Brazilian jiu-jitsu at an early age under Roger Coelho. He secured his first significant title as a white belt in 2003 when he was just 12. In 2010, he was awarded his Brazilian jiu-jitsu black belt by Ericson Cardoso and Jorge “Macaco” Patino.
