Sokoto’s Ibrahim Lamido Makes Bold Move: Exits APC for ADC!

The legislator representing Sokoto East Senatorial District in the upper house, Senator Ibrahim Lamido has officially stepped down from his allegiance to the All Progressives Congress, APC.

In a correspondence dated April 22, 2026 and addressed to the APC Chairman in Isa South Ward, Isa Local Government Area of the state, the legislator mentioned continual internal leadership turmoil within the state section of the governing party as justification for his choice.

The choice, according to him, was not “made lightly,” emphasizing that the “ongoing internal party unrest, mistrust and unjust party leadership approach within the party in Sokoto State has rendered it progressively challenging for me to maintain my membership with a clear conscience.”

The legislator stated that the “enduring rifts, absence of unity, and unresolved conflicts have greatly impeded the advancement and harmony that the party formerly represented.”

“I am thankful for the chance to have served and contributed to the party during my tenure as a member. I wish the party success in its endeavors to surmount its current difficulties and progress in unity.”

NAIJATAB learned that Senator Lamido is poised to obtain the membership card of the African Democratic Congress, ADC.
