“Transforming Ogun: Police Seize Six Vehicles and Clear Shanties at Toll Gate”

Approximately six automobiles have been seized by personnel of the Ogun State Police Command for breaches of traffic laws in the Sango-Ota region of the state.

The officers also dismantled shanties and eliminated unlawful constructions obstructing road setbacks, which contribute to ongoing traffic bottlenecks.

This information was revealed in a statement signed by police representative, Oluseyi Babaseyi, and shared with journalists in Abeokuta on Monday.

As per the statement, the confiscations occurred during the command’s initiative “No Traffic Gridlock,” conducted in the Sango Ota and Ijebu Ode Toll Gate areas of the state.

The statement indicates, “In the Sango Ota corridor, organized nighttime operations were executed, led by the Area Commander, Sango Ota, to dismantle shanties and clear unlawful structures obstructing road setbacks contributing to ongoing traffic congestion.

“Furthermore, early morning enforcement activities starting as early as 0500hrs facilitated the clearance of primary obstruction points and the seizure of six (6) vehicles found in breach of traffic laws.

“The region has since observed enhanced traffic flow, while ongoing surveillance continues.

“Likewise, the Ijebu Ode Toll Gate area was sanitized through ongoing enforcement efforts led by the Area Commander, Ijebu Ode, aimed at the indiscriminate parking of heavy-duty vehicles and roadside commerce along the highway.

“This coordinated action resulted in the methodical removal of truck accumulations and elimination of barriers, leading to a notable enhancement in vehicle movement within the area. Ongoing monitoring and compliance enforcement will remain in place to preserve the improvements achieved.”

The Commissioner of Police, CP Bode Ojajuni, reaffirmed the command’s dedication to maintaining the operation until complete compliance and uninterrupted traffic flow are attained across all impacted corridors.

He cautioned that illegal parking, roadside commerce, and obstruction of highways will not be tolerated, emphasizing that violators will face arrest and prosecution in accordance with the law.
