In spite of the persistent leadership turmoil within the African Democratic Congress, ADC, the party has reiterated its dedication to ongoing initiatives aimed at gearing up for the 2027 general elections.
In Rivers State, the ADC has disclosed information regarding its screening process for candidates in anticipation of its upcoming congresses.
In an announcement made on Tuesday, the party urged all interested candidates to take note of the timetable and screening protocols.
The announcement, endorsed by the State Organising Secretary, Tony Dagony, instructed all candidates vying for state, local government, and ward-level positions to present themselves for screening at the State Party Secretariat, local government secretariats, and ward offices, respectively.
All screening processes will occur on Wednesday, April 8, 2026, starting at 11:00 a.m.
The ADC is confronting an internal dilemma that is jeopardizing its stability.
The leadership conflict involves a faction associated with David Mark and another connected to Nafiu Bala Gombe.
The turmoil has intensified considerably, with the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, removing the party from its official website and refusing to acknowledge any of the opposing factions.
Furthermore, adding complexity to the issue, an alternative faction led by the party’s 2023 presidential candidate, Dumebi Kachikwu, has proclaimed plans to hold a national convention and form an interim leadership to navigate the party’s challenges.
