Early Life & Education
Born on November 5, 1984, in Ilorin, Kwara State, Dunsin is the sole son of the late Pastor Gbadebo Oyekan, a pioneer of Pentecostal faith in Nigeria and the General Overseer of Evangelical Baptist Church. His father also directed the gospel music collective, Spiritual Singers.
Dunsin completed his early education at Air Force Nursery and Primary School, then attended Federal Government College, Ilorin, before finishing his secondary schooling at Baptist Model High School. He later pursued a degree in Industrial Chemistry at the University of Ilorin, where he met his future spouse, Adedoyin.
Personal Life & Tragedy
Dunsin wed Adedoyin Oyekan on February 2, 2013, and together they had two children. Sadly, Adedoyin departed on May 18, 2019. In the wake of her loss, Dunsin maintained steadfast in his belief, describing her passing not in grief, but as a spiritual transformation. He has not entered into another marriage and continues to nurture their children.
In September 2022, Dunsin and a few of his team members experienced a serious vehicular accident but miraculously emerged without significant injuries, a moment he openly expressed gratitude to God for.
Music Career & Ministry
Dunsin’s enthusiasm for music was fostered early on by his father, who motivated him to learn the bass guitar. By the age of 10, he had already become proficient. His journey commenced in the local church choir and has since transitioned into a dedicated gospel music vocation.
He previously held the position of music director for Avalanche, the choir of the Commonwealth of Zion Assembly (COZA), but departed following purported disagreements with church leadership. He now functions as an independent gospel artist and minister.
Dunsin has performed at major gospel festivals, including The Experience Lagos, and has shared stages with international gospel stars such as Kim Burrell, Don Moen, Tasha Cobbs, Sinach, Frank Edwards, and William Murphy, among many others.
His first album, Code Red (2016), included 14 tracks. Since that time, he has launched over 30 songs under his own label, Dunsin Oyekan Music.
