
Maura Kathleen Mandt was a celebrated producer, groundbreaking creator, intrepid television commander, born on September 16, 1966.
As the longstanding executive producer of the ESPYs, ESPN’s yearly awards event, Maura was among the most powerful and impactful individuals in sports and entertainment for years.
Maura Mandt contributed to the ESPY Awards for over twenty years and ultimately ascended to the role of executive producer.
She passed away unexpectedly on February 28, 2020, at the age of 53.
Mandt started her journey with the ESPYs as a production assistant in the 1990s, transitioned to being a producer later in the decade, and was appointed executive producer in 2002.
She subsequently produced ESPN’s annual awards event through her firm, MaggieVision Productions.
Among the various other endeavors her company undertook were the NFL Honors show and projects for The Walt Disney Company, which owns ESPN. Mandt was recognized as a winner of a Primetime Emmy Award in 2014 for the ESPN 30 for 30 Short “Arthur & Johnnie.”
She also garnered two Sports Emmys for her documentary work. She even produced a 2014 short film that won the inaugural Prime Time Emmy for 30 for 30.
