Naira Marley was born Azeez Fashola on May 9, 1994, in Agege, Lagos state.

He is a rapidly emerging Nigerian musician, vocalist, songwriter, street music phenomenon, stage performer, and recording artist.

Recognized as the leader of his controversial fan community “Marlians,” he attended Porlock Hall before moving on to Walworth School, where he earned his General Certificate of Secondary Education.

Naira Marley subsequently graduated with honors in business from Peckham Academy. He also pursued business law at Crossways College, now referred to as Christ the King Sixth Form College in London.

He is presently wed to two women and has four offspring.

Naira Marley has unveiled two albums thus far.

Naira Marley always aspired to be an MC and voice-over performer. He began singing in 2014 after discovering his enthusiasm for music and was motivated by close friends to follow music as a vocation.

He launched the Max Twigz-assisted track “Marry Juana” prior to releasing his debut EP “Gotta Dance” in 2015.

Though “Marry Juana” was a hit track, Naira Marley gained widespread recognition in 2019 after the release of his chart-topping single “Am I A Yahoo Boy” and “Soapy” featuring Zlatan Ibile.

The song drew the attention of the EFCC, who apprehended him on the very day of the track’s launch. He was detained for internet fraud and faced 11 charges in court.

From that moment, his name became prominent within the Nigerian music scene.

On December 30, 2019, Naira Marley organized the Marlian Fest, held at the Eko Hotel and Suites, featuring esteemed musical legends such as Wizkid, Davido, Olamide, Phyno, Tiwa Savage, Zlatan Ibile, and other renowned musical stars.

Naira Marley received the Viewer’s Choice Award for his hit single “Soapy” at the 2020 Soundcity MVP Awards. In 2019, he was nominated for Best Pop, Street Song of the Year, and Artiste of the Year (Male) at the City People Music Awards.

Naira Marley is currently one of the wealthiest and most influential artists in Nigeria, with an estimated net worth of $1.2 million.
