DJ Ashba: Life Story and Early Years
DJ Ashba was born Daren Jay Ashba on the 10th of November 1972, in Monticello, Indiana, in the United States of America. He grew up in Fairbury, Illinois with his parents, whose identities remain unknown. His mother was a classically trained pianist who began imparting musical knowledge when he was just a toddler. His first piano performance occurred at the age of five, where he played Ode to Joy.
At the age of six, he constructed a drum set from trash bins, pots, and pans, eventually acquiring a real drum kit. By the time he was eight, he worked on a farm to save up for a guitar, and learned how to play from a man he met during his bus rides to the farm. At 16, his father took him to Mötley Crüe’s Girls, Girls, Girls Tour, which inspired him to pursue a path as a performer. At 18, he relocated to Hollywood to embark on his career.

DJ Ashba: Professional Journey
DJ Ashba commenced his career by joining a band called Barracuda and toured with them for two years. In 1996, he released his debut instrumental album titled Addiction to the Friction.
In 1998, he teamed up with BulletBoys as part of the band’s new lineup. During this time, he met Joe Lesté of Bang Tango. In 1999, he left the group to form a new band with Lesté.
In that same year, Ashba began assembling the band that would evolve into Beautiful Creatures, collaborating with Bang Tango’s frontman, Joe Lesté. They later brought in Kenny Kweens from Shake The Faith and session drummer Anthony Foxx.
After departing from Beautiful Creatures, he formed a new solo band named ASHBA, incorporating a former Tuff guitarist, Michael Thomas, who had also been Ashba’s backup in BC. However, he left that band in 2003.
