The Director-General of the Yemi Osinbajo Campaign Organisation, Senator Kabiru Gaya, announced that three Presidential candidates from the All Progressive Congress, APC, have withdrawn in favor of the Vice-President just hours before voting begins at the APC National Convention in Eagles Square, Abuja.
Nevertheless, Gaya did not specify the three candidates, merely asserting that former Senate President Ken Nnamani, who withdrew on Monday, did so in tribute to Osinbajo.
While addressing Channels Television, the senator further asserted that the roster of APC Presidential candidates has been reduced to only two – Osinbajo and former Governor Bola Tinubu of Lagos State.
NAIJATAB NEWS had previously reported that APC northern governors presented five names of southern presidential candidates to President Muhammadu Buhari for evaluation.
The five candidates were identified as Tinubu, Osinbajo, Governor Kayode Fayemi of Ekiti State, his Ebonyi State colleague, Dave Umahi; and the former Minister of Transportation, Rotimi Amaechi.
However, Gaya, who represents the Kano-South senatorial district, confirmed that the list has now been curtailed to two.
Gaya remarked, “We have Vice-President Osinbajo and Bola Tinubu. I know that some candidates have withdrawn in favor of Osinbajo. Nnamani and two others have stepped aside for Osinbajo.”
