MacKenzie Scott Tuttle entered the world on April 7, 1970, in San Francisco, California, to a financial consultant father and homemaker mother. She asserts that she began writing earnestly at the age of 6 with her work The Book Worm, a 142-page manuscript that was lost in a flood.
In 1988, she completed her studies at Hotchkiss School in Lakeville, Connecticut.
