Breaking: Buhari requested Osinbajo be excluded from Tinubu’s campaign – APC

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has stated that President Muhammadu Buhari requested the exclusion of Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo from the Campaign Council of the party’s Presidential Candidate, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu.

The campaign spokesperson, Festus Keyamo, revealed this in a declaration while clarifying the rationale behind the choice to omit Osinbajo.

Keyamo further mentioned that President Buhari also requested that Boss Mustapha, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, should not participate in the campaign council in order to focus on governance.

NAIJATAB NEWS had reported that Osinbajo was absent from the 422-member list published on Friday night.

The statement noted, “Our attention has been drawn to several narratives circulating that there may be some discord within the family of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the name of our esteemed and honored Vice-President, Professor Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, GCON, is not included in the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council list.”

“Nothing could be further from the truth. To clarify, President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR, serves as the Chairman of the Campaign Council. Thus, Mr. President has SPECIFICALLY instructed that the Vice-President and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Boss Mustapha, be excluded from the Campaign Council to concentrate on the governance of the nation and the administration of Government. As a responsible Party and Government, all essential government officials cannot forsake their roles for electioneering efforts. The APC holds the mandate of the Nigerian populace to govern the nation on their behalf at least until May 29, 2023, and this we aim to do with utmost responsibility.

“We will not follow in the footsteps of those who mismanaged the country before us, and our Party is not in complete chaos like those who claim to ‘rescue’ the nation, yet cannot effectively manage their own internal matters.”
