The artist was born in Brownsville, Brooklyn, New York. At a young age, the rapper moved to Staten Island. He is recognized as a beatboxer for the legendary American rapper Cappadonna. During that period, the rapper’s companions included Method Man, Inspectah Deck, and Raekwon. Prior to joining the group, he trained in rapping under Cappadonna. Eventually, he formed a close bond with RZA and Ghostface Killah. He started his career under the name Golden Arms before shifting to U-God.
