Mark Edward Fischbach (born June 28, 1989), widely recognized through his online alias Markiplier, is an American YouTuber and social media influencer. He began his journey in Cincinnati, Ohio, and currently lives in Los Angeles, California.

In addition to content creation, Markiplier is a co-founder of the clothing brand Cloak in partnership with fellow YouTuber Jacksepticeye. He also co-hosts the Distractible Podcast along with LordMinion777 and Muyskerm.

Markiplier was born at the Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu, Hawaii, on June 28th, 1989. He is the son of Cliffton Fischbach (father), a German-American who served in the U.S. Army, and Sunok Frank (mother). His parents crossed paths while his father was stationed in Korea.

Markiplier joined YouTube in March 2012 and published his first video the month after. Initially intending to create sketch comedy featuring himself in all roles, he came up with the name “Markiplier,” a fusion of his first name with “multiplier.”

His inaugural YouTube series was a gameplay of the video game “Amnesia: The Dark Descent,” but after playing several other games, YouTube suspended his AdSense account, prompting him to create a new channel, “markiplierGAME,” in May 2012.
