Charlie Rose finished his studies at Henderson High School and Duke University. He intended to complete his pre-med courses ahead of time; however, he discovered a passion for politics while interning in the office of Everet Jordan, a Senator from North Carolina.

In 1974, his prominence began to escalate after Bill Moyers appointed him as the editor-in-chief of the Bill Moyers Journal. From 1984 to 1990, Rose worked with CBS News as the host of CBS Nightwatch (the network’s inaugural late-night news program), often featuring one-on-one discussions with prominent figures in a manner reminiscent of his subsequent PBS program.
