Twitter gets 1.6 million daily active users in 1 week

Elon Musk announced that Twitter has augmented its daily active users by 1.6 million over the past week.

He noted that the record from the previous week represented yet another peak for the microblogging platform.

Based on Musk’s weekly chart, the average users per week on the service climbed by 1.6 million, from 257.8 million in the week ending November 13 to 259.4 million in the week ending November 20, 2022.

This rise in users aligns with rumors suggesting individuals are departing Twitter due to Elon Musk and the adverse policies he has instituted since acquiring the firm. These include the introduction of an $8 monthly charge for the Blue Check and the reinstatement of accounts that were previously banned by Twitter for breaching the platform’s rules.

After several Twitter engineers resigned last week, several hashtags, like #RIPTwitter and #GoodByeTwitter, gained traction on the website. Users expressed concerns that the exit of the company’s engineers could lead to its downfall. Nevertheless, Musk asserted that key personnel will not be departing.

Relaunch of Twitter Blue

In the meantime, Musk revealed on Monday evening that the anticipated relaunch of Twitter Blue has been delayed.

The initial launch of the subscription service had stumbled as impersonators swiftly created accounts in the names of notable figures not on Twitter and secured verification.

Musk indicated that the relaunch will be deferred until he is assured that impersonators cannot exploit the subscription service. He remarked:

“Postponing the relaunch of Blue Verified until there is significant assurance of preventing impersonation. Likely to use different color checks for organizations compared to individuals.”
