Mohammed Barkindo: Biography
Mohammed Barkindo is a prominent political figure from Nigeria. Since August 1, 2016, he has been in the position of Secretary-General of OPEC. In 2006, he served as the Acting Secretary-General, represented Nigeria on OPEC’s Economic Commission Board from 1993 to 2008, led the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation from 2009 to 2010, and has been leading Nigeria’s technical delegation in UN climate negotiations since 1991.

His term as OPEC Secretary-General was scheduled to end on July 31.
