Dejo Tunfulu was born and raised in the Idumola district of Lagos Island, Lagos State, yet hails from Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.

Dejo Tunfulu is blessed with a beautiful family comprising children and grandchildren. His previous marriage yielded two adult daughters known by their surnames, Sammyhat Pamilerin and Balogun boje. Mrs. Adesola Olakunle, Dejo’s spouse, sadly passed away in December 2012, reportedly succumbing during childbirth in the early hours. He has two grown children from his previous marriage. Dejo Tunfulu embarked on his acting journey in the early 1980s while in secondary school, joining the entertainment society (a school drama club) and performing in various stage productions.
He was raised in close proximity to notable stars such as Fausat Balogun (Madam Saje) and Kayode Olasehinde (Baba Ajirebi), learning from them from an early age.
A few years later, he became a member of the Akuko Gagara Theatre Group and Kolawole International Theatre Group, making his television debut in 1987 in the drama series “Apere Ijongbon” from the Kolawole International Theatre Group.
He gained recognition after starring alongside esteemed actor Fatai Adetayo in the movie “Omo Oran” (Lalude).
