UNFPA says 250 million Nigerians may fall into poverty
The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) has forecasted that nearly 250 million Nigerians will endure poverty if the Federal Government of Nigeria fails to invest in healthcare and education.
This insight was shared on Monday in Abuja during a parliamentary summit aimed at accelerating Nigeria’s demographic shift by Ms. Ulla Mueller, the UNFPA Country Representative.
She emphasized that in a world of 8 billion individuals, in a nation poised to become the third most populous globally, there could be 250 million individuals who could feel a sense of opportunity and potential. She contended that immediate action is crucial.
As per her observations, 250 million individuals could face heightened poverty and insecurity if incorrect investments are made.
