Two shot, one dead as police clash with Shi’ite protesters at National Assembly
One individual has been left behind as the Nigerian Police Force confronted Shi’ite demonstrators at the entrance of the National Assembly.
The Shi’ites were making their way to the National Assembly to voice their objection against the ongoing incarceration of the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria, Sheik Elzakzaky.
Elzakzaky had received bail from a court, yet the regime of President Muhammadu Buhari has declined to set him free, citing security concerns.
The demonstrators clashed with law enforcement at 1:15 p.m. on Tuesday. The police were already positioned at the entrance of the National Assembly awaiting their arrival.
