N27,000 approved as new minimum wage
The National Council of State has ultimately sanctioned a new minimum salary, elevating it from the prior N18,000 to N27,000 for the lowest earners.
As per the reports, however, the minimum salary for Federal Government employees will be N30,000.
Punch states that the resolution was reached on Tuesday, January 22, 2019, during the council assembly convened in Abuja.
The decision was affirmed to the State House Correspondents by the Minister of Labour, Dr. Chris Ngige.
