Tinubu’s former CSO named Lagos Commissioner of Police

Kayode Egbetokun, Former chief security officer to Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the national leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has been named the new commissioner of police in Lagos state. According to The Cable, was Tinubu’s CSO for a few years before he became the commandant of Police Training School, Ikeja, Lagos. This follows reports that the former commissioner, Edgal Imohimi was on Sunday redeployed to the force headquarters in Abuja. Unconfirmed reports have it that Imohimi was “fired” for his failure to provide adequate security for the APC gubernatorial rally, which turned into a bloodbath last week.

Another building has just collapsed at No 57, Egerton Square, Oke Arin, Lagos Island with many feared dead and trapped in it. This is happening barely a few days after the building collapse which killed many school kids at Ita faji, Lagos Island last week. A pregnant woman, the proprietor of the nursery/Primary school and 19 others, including no fewer than 12 pupils died last Wednesday, witnesses and hospital sources said. The pregnant woman was one of the persons rescued from the rubble, immediately after the building collapsed, but she died in the hospital. JUST IN: Fire destroys scores of shanties in Ebute Meta, Lagos

Many shanties have been destroyed by fire at the Ondo-Ibadan area of the Okobaba sawmill, Ebute Meta, Lagos State. The fire was reported to have started in one of the huts but spread to the area of the community. Efforts by firefighters and residents to kill the fire are yet to yield any results as of filing this report. An eyewitness told newsmen that residents of the area trooped out in their hundreds to douse the fire. The cause of the fire is yet to be found as of the time of filing this report. However, residents of close-by buildings have begun leaving their properties.
