INEC postpones Kogi, Bayelsa guber elections, gives new date

After much speculations, it has been confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the governorship election in Kogi and Bayelsa States has been postponed. The commission had earlier on Thursday shifted the date for the Kogi and Bayelsa States governorship election from Nov. 2 to Nov. 16. The Commission disclosed this in a statement issued by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye on Thursday in Abuja. Dino Melaye joins Kogi gubernatorial race

Dino Melaye, senator representing Kogi west, has declared interest in the November 16 governorship election in Kogi state, according to sources. One of Melaye’s allies told TheCable that the lawmaker declared his gubernatorial ambition at a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) meeting in Aiyetoro Gbede, his hometown in Kabba local government area of the state. “He (Melaye) has met with PDP leaders in Aiyetoro Gbede and informed them of his decision to run for governor. Breaking: Fire razes Kogi Assembly building

Flames have destroyed the Kogi State House of Assembly building in Lokoja, the capital of the State. Reports indicate that the early morning blaze severely damaged the flooring of the structure via the ceiling of the Chamber. As per PUNCH, an anonymous source mentioned that he suspected an explosion, but could not identify who might be culpable.
