INEC postpones Kogi, Bayelsa guber elections, gives new date

After much speculations, it has been confirmed by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) that the governorship election in Kogi and Bayelsa States has been postponed. The commission had earlier on Thursday shifted the date for the Kogi and Bayelsa States governorship election from Nov. 2 to Nov. 16. The Commission disclosed this in a statement issued by its National Commissioner and Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Mr Festus Okoye on Thursday in Abuja. BREAKING: Tinubu submits name of running mate to INEC

The presidential aspirant of the ruling All Progressive Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, announced that he has presented the identity of his partner for the 2023 Presidential election to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The former governor of Lagos State revealed this in a statement released on Friday. Tinubu, nonetheless, did not reveal the name of the running partner he has provided to INEC. He mentioned that he had “properly filled out nomination forms for INEC”. Bola Tinubu, the presidential nominee of the ruling All Progressives Congress, has informed the electoral commission INEC that he did not attend primary and secondary institutions, as reported by People Gazette. The former governor of Lagos, however, asserted that he possesses two degrees from American universities, which he further claimed were taken by unidentified soldiers during the military rule of the 1990s. The revelations were made in an affidavit submitted by Mr. Tinubu to the electoral authority as part of his qualification documents for the 2023 presidential elections. BREAKING: INEC Chairman confirms extension of voter registration

Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mahmood Yakubu, has affirmed the prolongation of the current ongoing continuous voter registration. Yakubu stated that the electoral agency will not conclude voter registration on June 30, 2022. He revealed this during the Youth Vote Count concert on Saturday at the old parade ground, Abuja. “The second aspect is you wish to know when this registration will conclude. Will it finish on the 30th of June in the next five days? On behalf of INEC, allow me to reassure you, e no go end for 30th June for as long as we have you individuals attempting to register to secure your PVC, we will continue to register you and ensure that you obtain your PVC,” Yakubu mentioned.
