How Herdsmen allegedly killed Afenifere Chairman’s daughter, Funke Olakunrin

According to unconfirmed information, the daughter of the chairman of Yoruba socio-cultural organisation, Afenifere has been killed by suspected herdsmen. In a text message sent to Punch today, Friday, July 12, the spokesman for Afenifere, Mr. Yinka Odumakin, said Mrs. Funke Olakunrin, the daughter of Afenifere chairman, Pa Reuben Fasoranti was killed today while she was coming from Akure. He stated that the 58-year-old woman was heading to Ore Junction from Akure, Ondo State, when she was attacked and shot by the herdsmen. The Governor of Benue State, Samuel Ortom narrowly escaped death this morning after armed herdsmen reportedly opened fire on his convoy at Tyo-Mu community in the outskirts of Makurdi town, along Makurdi-Gboko road. As at the filing of this report, the Governor is still in shock and is expected to address the media on the development.
