Flagbearer of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Abiodun Oyebanji has been declared the winner of the Ekiti State gubernatorial election. Oyebanji obtained a total of 187,057 votes to outpace his closest rival, Segun Oni of the Social Democratic Party, who received 82,211 ballots, while Bisi Kolawole of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) obtained 67,457 votes. The APC candidate emerged victorious in 15 of the 16 Local Government Areas within the State. The election's returning officer, Professor Kayode Oyebode, announced Oyebanji as the winner at 3:04 am on Sunday. The total valid votes in the election were 351,865, while invalid votes counted at 8,888, leading to a total of 360,753 votes cast. Former Senator of the Rivers South-East Senatorial District at the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe, has surfaced as the Social Democratic Party's gubernatorial candidate in Rivers State for the 2023 elections. NAIJATAB NEWS previously reported that Abe announced yesterday his transition to SDP after leaving the ruling All Progressives Congress. Abe was selected as the SDP gubernatorial candidate during a primary held in Port Harcourt on Saturday. The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, senior official Pastor Emmanuel Isong oversaw the primaries, and representatives from the Department of State Services, DSS, and the Nigeria Police Force were also in attendance at the event.
