CJN Onnoghen absent as 94 Lawyers Arrive CCT Session To Defend him

A group of 94 attorneys, comprising 47 Senior Advocates alongside 47 additional lawyers, is spearheaded by Chief Wole Olanipekun (SAN) and has arrived at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT) in Abuja to advocate for the Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen. The CJN is set to be arraigned before the tribunal today, even though he has yet to appear on the tribunal’s grounds. The proceedings are slated to commence at 10:00 a.m. Among the Senior Advocates of Nigeria in his defense team who have already taken their seats in anticipation of the proceedings are the Former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Kanu Agabi, Wole Olanipekun, Chief Chris Uche, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo, among others. Ex-CJN Onnoghen absent from CCT over Toothache, High Blood Pressure; to observe 3-Day Bed Rest

The suspended Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen, was absent from the today’s proceedings of the Code of Conduct Tribunal (where he has been charged with six counts of non-declaration of assets) to attend to a toothache. Explaining his absence to the three-man Bench of the CCT, his lawyer, Chief Adegboyega Awomolo (SAN), produced a medical report obtained by Onnoghen from the hospital where he was said to be receiving treatment, adding that Justice Onnoghen also had a high blood pressure of 410/121.
