Just 24 hours prior to the commencement of the All Progressive Congress, APC convention in Abuja, the former Senate President, Ken Nnamani, has exited the ruling APC presidential race.
The former legislator announced his departure on Monday during a meeting with journalists in Abuja.
NAIJATAB NEWS had earlier noted that President Muhammadu Buhari has urged the National Advisory Council of the All Progressives Congress (APC) to “actively” support a consensus candidate ahead of the party’s presidential primary slated for Tuesday in Abuja.
He stated, “Considering the present circumstances, it makes no sense for me to continue in the struggle as I have not been afforded the opportunity to present my profile and ideas to the delegates of our party in a manner that allows for thoughtful consideration.”
“Therefore, I am withdrawing from my ambition and wish the party a successful primary and a unified purpose so we can succeed in the 2023 general elections.”
“I will continue to engage with the party and its leadership to ensure that the principles and values I cherish and advocate find a strong footing in the party’s governance and in public leadership after the election.”
