
The considerable scope of the law has apprehended former Nigerian deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, along with his partner Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu.
The couple was arrested in the United Kingdom on charges of alleged human organ trafficking.
According to the Metropolitan Police Press Release, the Ekweremadus were today, Thursday, June 23, accused of scheming to arrange the travel of a minor into the UK for the purpose of organ extraction.
“The charges arise from an investigation carried out by the Metropolitan Police’s Specialist Crime unit.
[A] Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55 (10.9.66) of Nigeria is accused of conspiring to coordinate/facilitate the travel of another person with the intent of exploitation, particularly organ harvesting.
[B] Ike Ekweremadu, 60 (12.05.62) of Nigeria is accused of conspiring to coordinate/facilitate the travel of another person with the intent of exploitation, particularly organ harvesting.
Both individuals are currently in custody and are set to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court later today.
The inquiry began after detectives were alerted to possible breaches of modern slavery laws in May 2022.
A minor has been safeguarded, and we are working closely with partners for ongoing support.

At the time of this report, the Ekweremadus had yet to make any statements regarding the accusations of organ trafficking.
