“Senator Yaroe Makes Waves: A Bold Move to ADC from Adamawa South”

The senator for Adamawa South Senatorial District, Binos Yaroe, who recently switched from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has affirmed the African Democratic Congress (ADC) as his chosen new party.

Senator Binos informed journalists in Yola that he preferred the ADC over the All Progressives Congress (APC) to promote opposition and multi-party democracy.

He mentioned that it was also fitting to align himself with his mentor, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

He further stated that Atiku has been instrumental in his political journey, offering tremendous support when he initially ran for the Senate in 2019 and when he sought his second term in 2023.

Atiku, notably, hails from Binos’s constituency; Atiku comes from Jada while Binos is from Mayo Belwa.

He emphasized, during the press conference primarily organized for him to declare his new party, that he opted not to follow Governor Ahmadu Fintiri into the APC, preferring instead to unite with Atiku in the ADC.

He reiterated that his choice was influenced by political beliefs, fidelity, and a dedication to maintaining democratic opposition in Nigeria.

“I first consulted my supporters across the nine local government areas within my constituency. The PDP has become splintered into numerous factions, and no one can definitively assert which one is authentic,” Binos noted.

Binos, who aspires to return to the Senate in 2027, remarked that he departed the PDP as staying there presented a substantial political peril.

“For anyone looking to contest elections in 2027, it would be perilous to remain in such a predicament,” he stated.

Yaroe recalled that after formally resigning from the PDP on February 19, he continued discussions with political partners and other opposition lawmakers before reaching the conclusion to join the ADC.

He mentioned that nine senators from various opposition parties, including the Labour Party, APGA, and PDP, collectively decided to transition to the ADC as part of initiatives to bolster opposition politics ahead of the 2027 general elections.
