Over 1000 Osun residents benefit as groups commemorate World Diabetes Day

On Saturday, Lions Club International, Osun Axis, in partnership with Sugar And Cholesterol Control Foundation, offered complimentary diabetes screening and treatment to over 1000 inhabitants of the Iragbiji community, Osun State, in honor of the 2022 World Diabetes Day.

The recipients were also educated on diabetes prevention and management strategies during the screening, which took place at the Aragbiji palace.

Toyin Adesoye, the chair of Diabetes Awareness and Action for the 2022/2023 Lion Service Year, shared with reporters at the event that the organization chose to focus on diabetes screening and treatment to improve their health and wellness.

She stated, “This initiative aligns with the mission of Lions International club to deliver health services to the community.

“The Lions, Osun Axis, in collaboration with Sugar and Cholesterol Control Foundation, are present today to conduct screenings and offer medical assistance to the residents of Iragbiji. This initiative is one of the five essential projects of Lions that we carry out annually to commemorate World Diabetes Day.

“We aim to screen approximately 1000 individuals. We will also provide treatment for them. We desire for our people to be in good health. We believe that offering such screenings and treatments will greatly contribute to their wellness.”

The club’s primary objective, as stated by District Governor Lekan Owolabi, who was represented by former District Governor Ademola Adesoye, is service to humanity.
