Previous Presidents Olusegun Obasanjo and Goodluck Jonathan, together with Vice President Kashim Shettima, have landed at Chinua Achebe International Airport, Umueri, for Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s inauguration for a second term.
Soludo and Deputy Governor Dr. Onyekachukwu Gilbert Ibezim are set to be inaugurated on Tuesday.
The principal ceremony is scheduled to occur at Alex Ekwueme Square, Awka, following a multitude of pre-inauguration events.
The festivities commenced on Sunday, March 15, 2026, with an interdenominational service at the International Convention Centre, Awka, commemorating the conclusion of Soludo’s initial term and invoking divine favor for the upcoming term.
A thanksgiving service is planned for Sunday, March 22, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Cathedral.
Security measures have been intensified throughout the state, with law enforcement personnel stationed to assure a successful occasion.
