Kadri commenced his OHL journey with the Kitchener Rangers after being selected 18th overall in the initial round of the 2006 OHL Priority Selection. He participated in 68 games in his sophomore season in the OHL, accumulating 25 goals and 40 assists (65 points).
In that season’s playoffs, Kadri guided the Rangers to an OHL title and a place in the Memorial Cup final, where they faced the Spokane Chiefs from the Western Hockey League (WHL).
Additionally, prior to the 2009-10 season, Kadri practiced with the Maple Leafs. He took part in six preseason matches for the team, netting three goals and providing two assists.
