The police command of Nasarawa State has retrieved two stolen vehicles through distinct operations, while amplifying efforts to capture the escaping suspects.
The Police Public Relations Officer, DSP. Ramhan Nansel, revealed this in a statement on Wednesday, indicating that the recoveries resulted from coordinated, intelligence-driven operations throughout the state.
As per Nansel, the initial operation was initiated by a distress signal reporting the theft of a black Toyota Prado SUV with Abuja registration number YAB 81 KC.
Acting promptly, the Commissioner of Police, Shetima Jauro Mohammed, dispatched operatives from ‘A’ Division in Lafia, along with personnel from the Anti-Kidnapping Unit and Operation Nasara.
The vehicle was subsequently found near Izallah Mosque in the Mararaba Akunza region of Lafia.
“Upon receiving the information, operatives were swiftly mobilized, resulting in the recovery of the stolen vehicle.
“Nevertheless, the suspects escaped the scene, and efforts are ongoing to capture them,” the statement mentioned in part.
The PPRO further noted that in a different occurrence, police operatives affiliated with Aso Pada Division acted on intelligence reports concerning suspicious persons in possession of a vehicle at the Aso B area, near the Assemblies of God Church in Mararaba, Karu Local Government Area.
The suspects allegedly fled upon seeing the officers, leaving behind a silver Pontiac Vibe without a registration number.
An inspection of the vehicle resulted in the recovery of a number plate presumed to belong to the car, a beret from the Nigerian Correctional Service, and photocopies of documents thought to be associated with the vehicle.
Authorities stated that preliminary investigations indicated that the car had been reported stolen on March 11, 2025.
The statement further mentioned that inquiries are ongoing, while efforts have been amplified to track down those accountable.
The Commissioner of Police encouraged residents to stay alert and report any suspicious activities to security agencies, assuring that the command “remains steadfast and will leave no stone unturned in ensuring that all offenders are brought to justice.”
