A political affairs commentator, Ibrahim Modibo, has urged for the removal of the National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, due to the ongoing insecurity troubling Nigeria.
Modibo expressed this demand on Friday during a live discussion in an interview on Arise Television’s ‘Prime Time’, emphasizing that the NSA has been ineffective.
He was discussing the worsening situation of security in the nation.
The public analyst also condemned the recent assaults by terrorists on military Forward Operating Bases, resulting in the deaths of at least three General Commanding Officers.
“The National Security Adviser, Nuhu Ribadu, ought to be dismissed. He has not succeeded. The security framework has faltered. And if an individual is failing exams, will they continue to graduate? He must be released.
“You see, truly, there is a necessity for us to shatter the glass ceilings in order to seize some low-hanging opportunities within the security cycles of this nation.
“Furthermore, for me, there are some essential measures to consider. Why are we not utilizing technology?
“Aside from drone surveillance, assuming, without ignoring that our military has access to advanced equipment, is it not feasible or do they not possess a surveillance camera that could observe around the areas under military control?
“The base is approximately five kilometers away, so that 24/7, we’ll have personnel monitoring, and this will be scanning all the foliage, observing any activity, because Zamfara State Governor recently informed us that in his office, he can see almost everything. So for heaven’s sake, can’t you allocate funds to acquire technological support to launch a satellite in the vicinity?
“Moreover, these terrorists have been abducting individuals for quite a while, entering villages with captives and then demanding ransom.
“For heaven’s sake, ransoms have been issued. The security forces are aware. Don’t they have a technological pin that they could embed in the money to track these offenders wherever they may be?” He queried.
