Mercy Chinwo: Biography & Early years
Mercy Nnenda Chinwo was born on September 5, 1990. She entered this world as one of five siblings in Port Harcourt, Rivers state. Mercy experienced the loss of her father at an early age and had to support herself and her siblings. Consequently, she took her music vocation earnestly from the start.
Mercy Chinwo: Professional Journey
Chinwo began in the children’s choir at the age of 8. Later, she transitioned into the adult choir and took on the role of music director at her local church. She also contributed her vocal talents to gospel music ministers such as Sammie Okposo, Joe Praize, Buchi, Chris Morgan, and Preye. Eventually, she participated in musical contests until she discovered Nigerian Idol. Ultimately, she rose to fame as the winner of season 2 of this Nigerian talent show.
In 2015, she launched her debut single Testimony (2015) followed by Igwe (2016). On February 20, 2018, Mercy unveiled her first studio album The Cross: My Gaze. The 16-track contemporary gospel album was released by EeZee Conceptz under Dixtrit Media. It featured collaborations with Shady B, Fiokee, Chris Morgan, and Olaitan Odoko. Since then, Mercy has consistently produced uplifting worship tracks.
